PM Awas Yojana Rural Survey: New applications for PM Awas Yojana Rural Survey started

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the survey work in rural areas has been started. This scheme is specially designed for families who are economically weak and live in kutcha (unfinished) or damaged houses. Such rural families are provided financial assistance of up to ₹1,20,000 by the government to build a pucca (permanent) house. With this assistance, beneficiaries can build their houses without any difficulty. The main objective of this scheme is to provide safe housing to families living below the poverty line.

Eligibility for PM Awas Yojana

To avail the benefits of this scheme, fulfilling the eligibility criteria is very important. First of all, the beneficiary’s name must be included in the published eligibility list. The applicant must be a resident of a rural area and must not own a pucca house. Families living in kutcha houses are considered eligible. No member of the family should be employed in a government job, and the annual family income should be less than ₹2 lakh. If any family has previously taken benefits from any government housing scheme, they cannot avail the benefits of this scheme again. Eligible families from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes are also covered under this scheme, provided they submit all required documents and accurate information.

Assistance Provided Under PM Awas Yojana

Under this scheme, eligible rural families are provided financial assistance of up to ₹1,20,000. This amount is transferred to the bank account in four installments. As the construction of the house progresses, the installments are released accordingly. The structure of financial assistance is different for rural and urban areas. Additionally, the labor cost is given through the MGNREGA muster roll to maintain transparency and ensure that the amount reaches the rightful beneficiary.
